I recently visited the IGNCA ,NEW DELHI where I witnessed the grand celebration of the 25th INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE WORLD’S INDIGENOUS PEOPLES. It was a three day program comprising of panel discussions on various topics, tribal dance performances, tribal fashion show, tribal youth band etc. Tribes from various parts of India and also from different countries came together to celebrate this auspicious day.
Reputed chief guests and many prominent figures were invited to attend the program.
I was mesmerised to see the different vibrant culture and dresses of various tribes of India.
They were simply beautiful, and so much talented. I could not resist myself to share the frame with them and clicked so many pictures with them.
It was well organised and many stalls of food ,clothes and books were also there.
The two most awaited event of the day was the tribal fashion show and performance by tribal youth band
My personal favourite was the tribal youth band, they performed so beautifully that people could not help themselves from dancing and cheering to the melodious songs and the beats.
Tribal Fashion Show
Fashion show was the last event and I must say it was the best.
Gorgeous models both young boys and girls flaunting their beautiful traditional attire and walking the ramp was simply eye catching. They also did the fusion theme in the last round which really did sparkle my eyes ,it was effortlessly beautiful and I loved the traditional jewelleries and the props they used. Tribal fashion should be given world recognition , recently the silver jewelleries are in trend and I must say that the tribal jewelleries have given birth to such craze for the silver jewelleries in the market.
I hope that the Indian tribal community will continue to inspire the fashion designers in future too and in return I wish that they give due recognition to the tribal community for their inspiration.
Round 1 – TRADITIONAL
Round 2- With Prop
Round 3- Fusion
To conclude , it was a great experience and I would love to attend and celebrate the indigenous day in the next years to come.
Principle sponsor of the event was ONGC , along with
